7th and 8th

 

I'm sorry to say that my foot swelled up yesterday seemingly 3 days after I expected it to and today the bruise is coming out nicely on the ankle bone so I had to call work this morning. Thing is, I rang 7 times and still couldn't get through so I gave up. As I type this they've not rung me to ask where I am and it's snowing with a storm on the way. The danger notwithstanding I would have liked to have had a shift during the encroaching bad weather to liven things up a bit and I really don't want ASDA to think I am pulling a sickie. 

Meantime Rihanna is really excited because 10 policeman just battered down our neighbour's door. She shouted through her window to be careful because he has a gun but they didn't seem bothered when she told them she saw him with it a couple of years ago (cleaning it in his backyard). 

She thinks he was probably suicidal after Christmas, a popular time to unalive oneself.  While she was filming the drama outside the water board rang and she gave them some commentary.

The waterboard rang because yesterday Rihanna was shockingly rude to a girl on the phone who reportedly called her boss in tears. Rihanna is super confident she is in the right, because she was accused of being a liar. Perhaps she was in a roundabout sort of way but even if she wasn't lying she is by her own admission a liar.

My passport has expired, so I had to go to the Post Office and pay extra to apply for a driving licence. Then the assistant did it all online, anyway, on a tablet. For my photo, I had to go and stand in a shabby corner of the room partitioned off from the shop floor, and each time the girl took a snap, it was pleasantly awkward as she had to wait a minute or two to receive a response from the website, which kept rejecting the shot. The fourth time, she used the flash. These days there are so many people in receipt of benefit one feels one should say 'thank you for your service' to anyone working, such as the aforementioned girl of about 23 serving me for minimum wage. But it's a far cry from the heyday of the high street in Neath. Look beyond today

Look Beyond Today arrived by post from Australia. Spent a tenner in Morrisons on some nibbles for tomorrow but Rihanna, having dissed them and made out they weren't for her, made a fairly rapid acquaintance with the packet of fake Mars bars called Apollo after another God. Tomorrow is a new year and on a personal level today seemed scheduled for significance as it was almost the day my new life as someone on ADHD medication began but that is postponed, at least until January 28th.  That being said, I am finally old enough to know one shouldn't look beyond today. At least in the sense that we tend to undervalue the present. So I am going to bed before midnight. 2025 may bring some interesting headlines. China/Taiwan, Russia/Ukraine, UFOs, AI, Trump...Every year since 2020 has been a banger and it feels like these times are not about to stop delivering but one could also say plus ca change.

The truth

The saddest thing about my dreams is I am all alone in them. No friends, no fixed abode, I simply drift between new schools and new jobs, always an anonymous imposter on the road to nowhere.  I worry about my soul's track record. They say friends and family await on the other side but that must be conditional on the life one has built. My life is one only of broken dreams, severed friendships, missed appointments.
